Job Shadow with

Linda Price of

Continental resources

My experience from spending time with Linda Price was rewarding. I learned more than I could have ever imagined during my period of time with her. First, I want to explain what all she does, then describe why it will help me in my future career. She does everything from scheduling, marketing and accounting for the oil that is involved with the Continental Oil and Gas Resources. As a manager, she answers many questions that go throughout the whole work area. As of right now, she is trying to train her employees to do her job because she is trying to find the right person to take over her job someday. She is wanting to get this done quick because she plans on retiring within the next 5 years. A normal day for Linda is helping everyone around her and trying to build the company through the people she teaches. Her department calculates how much to pay the lease and royalty owners that the oil was founded on. Linda started as the Whole Marketing Accountant at Enid, Oklahoma. The business consisted of her and one other woman before the business boomed. As the business boomed, Linda worked side by side with Harold Hamm, the owner of Continental, and was offered a raise and many great other benefits if she would move up to Oklahoma City in April of 2012 to be a Supervisor. As she kept working, she moved up to the Manager of Oil Marketing in the business. Linda just completed her tenth year of working at Continental in January. The great things about Continental is the fact that they set milestones throughout the whole company. They just recently hit their milestone of 200,000 barrels of oil a day. They started at 10,000 barrels as a milestone and have worked their selves up to 200,000 within their 50 years as a company. She was a graduate at SWOSU and was a part of Phi Beta Lambda because they asked her to join and take the State Leadership Conference Accounting II Test. She got second place on this test, which involved the whole state of Oklahoma.

As for me, I turned in my internship to work for this company during the summer of 2018.  I plan on furthering my education so that maybe someday I can work for Continental and be just like Linda Price. Also, I was already a member of Phi Beta Lambda, but she got me even more excited after hearing what she had to say about the group.
